While streaming platforms have simplified the process of locating and binge-watching our favourite series, the vast array of options can often leave us feeling swamped. This can result in an hour-long scroll, as we grapple with deciding what to watch.

However, if you're currently between binge-watches and seeking a new show to fill the gap, TV enthusiasts on social media have recently endorsed a Netflix series. They've hailed it as "better than Breaking Bad" - with one individual even suggesting it could be a contender for the greatest programme of "all time".

In the TV Suggestions forum on Reddit, a user posted about a series named Money Heist, which they began watching following a recommendation from another member of the same forum.

They labelled the show a "gem", stating that it would feature prominently on their list of top shows if not for a single drawback - the series was originally filmed in Spanish, so it's only available in English as a dubbed version.

They wrote: "Money Heist is a gem. Thanks to this sub for suggesting it. Only seven episodes in and absolutely loving this show. My brother told me he liked it better than Breaking Bad. Maybe that's an exaggeration, but wow."

"The only downside is that it's dubbed from Spain. Otherwise this show might be in the all time discussion."

A dubbed programme means that the performers on screen filmed the sequences whilst speaking one language, and during post-production, the dialogue was recorded in a second language and overlaid onto the existing footage.

In the case of Money Heist, this means that whilst the performers on screen are speaking Spanish, English-speaking viewers can hear the dialogue in English. This doesn't alter the action on screen, but it does mean that the performers' lip movements won't synchronise with the dialogue, which some viewers may find off-putting.

Respondents on the individual's Reddit post were largely in agreement with their enthusiasm for the programme. Some even revealed that Money Heist introduced them to more "international television" and unlocked an entirely new realm of programmes to watch.

One individual said: "It's one of my absolute favourites! It's actually the show that got me into watching a LOT more international television. There's some great stuff out there that far surpasses 95% of the cr*p that the US churns out."

Another added: "Goat [greatest of all time] non-English show easily, in my opinion."

Money Heist is a Spanish heist crime drama that follows two meticulously planned robberies orchestrated by a man known as the Professor (played by Alvaro Morte) - one targeting the Royal Mint of Spain, and another focused on the Bank of Spain. The narrative unfolds through the eyes of one of the criminals, named Tokyo, portrayed by Urusla Corbero.

The series first premiered in Spain in 2017, before Netflix acquired it in 2019. It comprises three seasons divided into two parts each, totalling 41 episodes, and concluded in 2021 - allowing viewers to binge-watch the entire series without having to wait for a subsequent season to complete the storyline.

Money Heist is available to watch on Netflix now.
