The Kremlin said late on Monday night (local time) that there was a phone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump, in which they discussed the current situation in the Middle East. During the conversation, Putin made several proposals aimed at quickly ending the ongoing war between Iran and America-Israel.

The Kremlin said that this phone call was initiated by Washington. Putin's foreign affairs adviser Yuri Ushakov said that the talks lasted for about an hour and views were exchanged between the two leaders.

According to the Associated Press report, he said that the Russian President put forward some ideas aimed at an early political and diplomatic resolution of the ongoing armed conflict in the Middle East after his talks with the leaders of the Gulf countries and the President of Iran. Ushakov said Trump presented his assessment of the situation in the context of the ongoing US-Israeli campaign.

It is noteworthy that Iran, which has suffered heavy losses in the ongoing war with Israel and America's united front, is a major ally of Russia. Ushakov said that Putin and Trump also discussed the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. In the conversation, emphasis was laid on the ongoing bilateral talks with US representatives to resolve the conflict situation with Iran and Ukraine issue.

Putin also described the current situation along the contact line, where Russian forces are advancing with considerable success, according to AFP, referring to the Ukraine conflict during the phone call. This was the first conversation between Trump and Putin since December. Both the leaders had held a summit in Alaska in August last year.

According to Ushakov, uncertainty regarding Venezuela and global oil supply was also mentioned in the conversation between Trump and Putin. He said the two leaders discussed Venezuela in the context of the situation in the global oil market. The Kremlin described the overall tone of the talks as clear and practical.
