Banks will remain locked for 14 days in April! Please check this list before going to the branch.

With the beginning of the new financial year, the month of April brings many important financial changes. But if you have to complete any important bank related work in April 2026, then definitely check the list of holidays before leaving home. According to the official holiday calendar released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed for a total of 14 days in different parts of the country in the month of April. In these holidays, apart from 4 Sundays and 2nd and 4th Saturdays, there are 8 days when banks will not function due to regional and national festivals in different states.

The process of holidays is starting from 1st April itself. On the very first day of the month i.e. 1st April, banks will remain closed for customers in almost the entire country. This is the day of annual account closing, hence no offline work will be possible in the branches. After this, there will be a public holiday in banks across the country on the occasion of 'Good Friday' on 3rd April. Similarly, on the occasion of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti on 14th April, bank branches will not open across India. On the same day, festivals like Baisakhi, Tamil New Year and Bohag Bihu will also be celebrated in many states, due to which work will be affected at the nationwide level.

Abundance of regional festivals, when will banks remain closed in which states?

Many local festivals also occur in the month of April, which have a direct impact on the bank branches of different states. Banks will remain closed in Kerala on 2nd April due to Maundy Thursday. After this, the day of 15th April is very important. On this day, there will be a holiday for bank employees in Shimla, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Itanagar and Agartala due to Bengali New Year (Nababarsha), Himachal Day and Vishu. At the same time, banks will remain closed in Guwahati on 16 April on the occasion of Bohag Bihu, on 20 April in Bengaluru on Basava Jayanti and Akshaya Tritiya and on 21 April in Agartala for Gariya Puja.

Your money transactions will not stop even during holidays

There is no need to be troubled by the news of closure of banks for so many consecutive days. These holidays are applicable only for the physical branches of the bank. For the convenience of the common man, all digital banking services will continue to work 24×7 during this period. You will be able to use mobile banking, net banking, UPI and ATM without any interruption. Be it money transfer or bill payment, holidays will have no impact on these online facilities.

Stock market will remain closed for 10 days

Important update for stock market investors: Not only banks, but it is also important for stock market investors to know that there will be no trading in the stock market for a total of 10 days in April 2026. This includes 8 days and regular weekly holidays of Saturday and Sunday. Apart from this, trading in the stock market will also be completely closed on the occasion of Good Friday on 3rd April and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti on 14th April.
