The unity of 'INDIA', the alliance of opposition parties formed to challenge the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA government at the Centre, has been disintegrating from time to time. Especially when it comes to state assembly elections. This unity disintegrates during state elections. Even before West Bengal, the same unity was not seen with the 'INDIA' alliance in the elections of many states. Now the same has happened in West Bengal also.
Congress, which leads the 'INDIA' alliance, may be powering the India Bloc with Mamata Banerjee at the centre, but the party is planning to enter Mamata's strong constituency to increase its strength in the West Bengal elections and take the number of seats far beyond 0.
In the Muslim dominated areas of West Bengal, where Mamata is facing the challenge of garnering minority votes, the Left is making waves, while the alliance of Humayun Kabir and Asaduddin Owaisi has also entered the fray. In such a situation, Congress has also planned to exert its strength in Malda, Murshidabad, North Dinajpur and Purulia. Also, in view of the relations between Rajiv Gandhi and Subhash Ghisingh, Darjeeling is also on its target, where the new promises of Congress can trouble Mamata's camp.
Election campaign has gained momentum in the state. After voting ends in 3 states on April 9, now big leaders are going to visit this eastern state. There are plans to organize 3 big rallies of Rahul Gandhi and 3 of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in these areas.
At the same time, regardless of Mamata's Trinamool Congress (TMC), Congress is moving ahead with a new strategy. Several rallies of Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, who comes from the Dalit community, will be organized in SC-ST dominated areas like Cooch Behar, Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri in the state. Similarly, Kharge will release the Congress manifesto for West Bengal in Kolkata today at 4 pm on Tuesday, in which many announcements will make a dent in Mamata's vote bank.
Apart from this, among the four important issues that Congress has set for Bengal, one of them is the collusion between Mamata Banerjee and BJP, due to which TMC is bound to be angry.
There are four important issues on the target of Congress for Bengal, in which Law and order, Corruption, Dearness– For which both the TMC government of the state as well as the BJP government at the Center are responsible. Fourth, outstanding amount, The BJP government at the Center has not given its share of Rs 2 lakh crore to Bengal, but Mamata is silent due to fear of central investigative agencies and the rights of the people of the state are dying.
Overall, even in the Lok Sabha elections, India alliance partners at the Center, TMC and Congress, had contested the elections separately in Bengal, then Congress and the Left were together. But there was no such across-the-board strategy in the election campaign, due to which Mamata always remained a part of the India block at the Centre. This time, the sharp political strategy of Congress, which is fighting alone to corner Mamata, may also sour the relations between the two parties in future.
