Actually, this seat is near the door in the reserve coach of the train, especially in AC coaches. It has not been made for common passengers, rather it is for the use of attendants present in the train. These attendants provide facilities like bedsheet, pillow and blanket to the passengers. This seat is usually near the bathroom and the attendants take rest here when needed.
Recently, a video went viral on social media, in which this seat has been shown in a very attractive manner. In the video, a person is seen lying on this seat looking at the outside view. At first glance this view can attract anyone and it may seem that this seat is quite spectacular. Some people even call it the most underrated seat.
But the reality is completely different from this. Sitting or lying on this seat is not as easy and comfortable as shown in the video. First of all, this seat is very close to the bathroom, due to which there is often a problem of bad smell. Apart from this, this route is the main route for the movement of passengers, due to which there is constant traffic there. In such a situation, it becomes difficult to expect peace and comfort.
The situation becomes even more challenging during the day. When the train stops at a station and passengers have to disembark or board, then opening this seat is not allowed. That means you cannot use it all the time. Apart from this, this seat is not considered completely safe from security point of view. Sitting or lying down here can be risky due to its proximity to the door. Even a little carelessness can cause a serious accident.
During festivals, when the crowd in trains increases, some attendants allow needy passengers to sit or lie on this seat in exchange for a little money. Although this is completely against the rules, but due to overcrowding many people are forced to choose this option.
People have also openly expressed their opinions on this viral video. Someone described it as a side lower berth, while someone else said that till date he has not seen any seat near the gate. Some users also said that there must be a foul smell from the washroom, while some termed it extremely dangerous. One user even wrote that even a small mistake could lead to danger to life.
