The Russia-Ukraine war has not ended even after four years. Despite all ceasefire attempts, Russia and Ukraine are face to face. Since Donald Trump's return to the White House, US military aid to Ukraine has decreased significantly. Now Ukraine is taking a new step to persuade Trump. According to The New York Times, Ukrainian officials have proposed naming a part of their Donbass region 'Donnyland' in an attempt to placate Donald Trump.

This proposed area is about three to four times the size of Greater London. This proposal is being presented as a step for the US President to withdraw his support from Moscow. A Ukrainian negotiator is reported to have used ChatGPT to draft a national anthem and a green and gold flag for the envisioned mini-state.

However, no official announcement has been made regarding this. But reports say that during informal talks on a possible resolution of the war, Ukrainian representatives reportedly proposed naming the part of their Donbass, which is under constant attack by Russia, as Donbass.

Ukraine started trying to woo Trump

Negotiators in Kiev believe that by associating Trump's name with any region, the Trump administration can go against the major regional demands being made by Russia for ceasefire. According to the publication, this name was taken jokingly, so that the administration of US President Donald Trump could be persuaded to take a tough stance on Moscow's claims to the area.

This area is disputed throughout the war

This area is said to be approximately 80*65 kilometers, which is under the control of Ukraine and is one of the main disputed issues in the talks. According to the Ukrainian side's estimate, about 190,000 people live there, although NYT's interlocutors gave lower figures.

It has been said in the report that other options for the future status of the area have also been discussed. Which includes a model of a demilitarized zone, a free economic zone or a partially autonomous entity without complete control by any party.

According to the Russian newspaper, Russia has demanded full legal control over Donbass, while Kiev has not agreed to the transfer of the areas. Because of this, talks on the issue of area actually reached a standstill. Now Ukraine is seeking support from Trump by changing the name of this area. However, no official confirmation has been given by the Ukrainian authorities regarding the existence of the 'Donnyland' proposal.
