An official associated with the Ministry of Information Technology said that registration of all social games is being made mandatory but if any social game is related to China, Pakistan and Turkey, then the government can ask it to register itself. At present, registration is not necessary for normal social games, but the government will have the right to take action against any suspicious game.
He further said that games involving money transactions will be banned. Registration for e-sports will now be mandatory. However, games involving betting or money will not be able to register themselves as 'e-sports'. According to the new rules, from May 1, all those online games in which money is traded will be banned in India. The government notified online gaming rules on Wednesday.
