Delhi Government said that the Information Technology Department is continuously intensifying its efforts towards expanding the IT sector in the capital, strengthening Artificial Intelligence based innovation, research and startup ecosystem. Whose main objective is to create new employment opportunities and attract investment in AI and IT sectors.
Taking an important step in this direction, the Delhi Government has decided to set up two Artificial Intelligence Centers of Excellence (AI-CoEs) under the IndiaAI Mission of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). These centers will play the role of catalyst to promote innovation and entrepreneurship.
Through these centres, the target is to support about 90100 startups, train more than 7 thousand youth and create more than one thousand new employment opportunities in the next four years. Each center is being developed with a financial assistance of Rs 20 crore, which will be based on a 40:40:20 contribution model between MeitY, Delhi Government and industry/academic partners.
Delhi's Information Technology Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh said that Delhi is taking a decisive step towards the future by investing in Artificial Intelligence in the form of innovation and economic development. These AI Centers of Excellence will not only promote cutting-edge research and startups, but will also ensure that the benefits of technology directly help improve the lives of our citizens.
The initiative has received administrative approval from MeitY and will be implemented in collaboration with key academic and industrial partners including Netaji Subhash University of Technology (NSUT) and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Dwarka.
The AI Centers of Excellence will be developed as a holistic platform that will bring together government, academia and industry to drive AI-based innovation, research and a strong startup ecosystem. This initiative will help startups to convert their ideas into successful businesses. A major objective of these centers is to implement AI based solutions in governance, which will ensure transparency, efficiency and accountability in government services and provide better services to the citizens. Also, digital governance will be strengthened in the capital.
The initiative will also create a strong and futuristic workforce through training, skill development and certification programs for youth in AI and related technologies. IT Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh further said that through this initiative we want to create a strong team of skilled AI professionals, as well as enable startups and emerging technology professionals to develop solutions to real problems. Our goal is to create an ecosystem where ideas can be transformed into effective solutions.
Apart from this, AI will attract better investment in excellence and IT sector as well as create new employment opportunities. By promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, these centers will play an important role in establishing the capital Delhi as a leading center in the field of Artificial Intelligence and new technologies.
