He will start a journey against drugs in Punjab. Assembly elections are to be held in Punjab in February next year along with Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Uttarakhand and Manipur. There are BJP governments in the remaining four states but BJP wants to strengthen its ground in Punjab.
According to the information, Amit Shah's mission Punjab will start from the month of May. He will visit Punjab in May. During this period, BJP's yatra against drugs will also be started across Punjab. Big leaders of BJP from the state and center will also join these yatras from time to time at different places. BJP leaders will also tell the public that since Punjab is a border state, if the BJP government is formed, it will help in curbing drug smuggling from the border through double engine government.
Actually, BJP wants to make drugs a big issue before the elections, hence a public awareness campaign will be conducted against it.
BJP leaders say that Amit Shah has launched a war against drugs in the entire country, hence Punjab will also be made drug free. The party feels that lakhs of houses have been destroyed in Punjab due to drug addiction and families are breaking up due to this addiction among the youth.
BJP believes that through this campaign they will get the support and support of the people and the failure of the Punjab government to crack down on drugs will also be brought before the public. Through this yatra, preparations are being made to expose the state's Aam Aadmi Party government on this issue. Actually, Amit Shah has been working on a plan to organize a yatra against drugs in Punjab for a long time.
In 2016, during the BJP-Akali coalition government, as party president, he had decided to take out this yatra but then this decision was postponed due to internal reasons. In 2022, Aam Aadmi Party had also made drugs a big issue in the assembly elections and this was also considered a major reason behind its victory. In Punjab, BJP has decided to contest elections alone in Punjab. The party will not forge an alliance with its old ally Shiromani Akali Dal.
Amit Shah has started BJP's election campaign in Punjab through the Parivartan rally in Moga in March this year. Now with this anti-drug campaign, the party hopes to reach every corner of Punjab because almost every area of Punjab is affected by it. Also, BJP's assessment is that now the ground situation in Punjab has changed. While on one hand the Aam Aadmi Party government has not been able to fulfill its promises, on the other hand Congress is also struggling with internal factionalism. Akali Dal is also embroiled in internal differences after the death of Sardar Prakash Singh Badal. Therefore, this time BJP is finding Punjab as politically fertile ground.
