Nowadays, app services like Rapido have made our everyday life much easier. Wherever you want to go, you can get a bike or cab in just a few minutes. This saves time and also reduces hassle. But there is another truth behind this facility, which people often ignore. This is the truth of those drivers who work on the road in every weather and every condition.
Recently a video has surfaced on social media platform X, which has been shared by an account named RajveerIND. This video has drawn people's attention to what is the condition of the people working behind these ride-hailing services. In the video, a Rapido rider is seen explaining his problem. He says that due to the extreme heat his mobile phone is not working properly and the app is hanging again and again.
The driver tells that in such extreme heat it has become common for the phone to heat up and stop working, but due to this he has to face continuous problems. Due to the app not working properly, he faces difficulty in getting and completing the ride. Meanwhile, calls keep coming from customers who do not understand why there is a delay. Customers think that the driver is intentionally late, whereas the real reason is technical problems and bad weather.
In the video, the driver also says that even in such extreme heat, he has to accept rides as low as Rs 20. Working for such little money is not only difficult for him, but also affects his resources. He also indicates that continuous use of mobile in sunlight and heat is damaging his phone too, but he has no choice as he has to earn daily.
After this video surfaced, different reactions of people were seen on social media. Many users agreed with the rider and said that because of these delivery and riding partners, all of us are able to fulfill our needs comfortably sitting at home. We want convenience in a short time, but we do not think about who is working hard outside and under what circumstances.
Some people also said that if app companies can take extra money from customers in the name of increasing demand, then those drivers who are working in difficult weather should also get better payment and extra incentives. Especially during the summer season when the temperature is very high, it becomes even more challenging for such riders to work.
Many also suggested that companies should consider a facility like heat allowance, so that drivers can get additional support for their difficult work. Apart from this, it was also raised that app companies should further improve their systems so that drivers do not have to suffer losses due to technical problems.
While we complain about delays, delivery partners are working in 41°C heat, where even their smartphones are giving up due to overheating.
When the phone stops working, their work stops, but the pressure from customers and platforms continues relentlessly.
