Apple Vision Pro: Apple's high-tech mixed reality headset Vision Pro could not live up to expectations. After its launch, it was described as a future technology, but this device did not become popular among common users in the market. According to reports, Apple is no longer progressing work on its new version. Many reasons have emerged behind the failure of this device, out of which its high price, limited availability and lack of apps are considered to be the biggest reasons. Not only this, problems like battery and comfort also made it weak.
The starting price of Apple Vision Pro was $3499 i.e. lakhs of rupees in the Indian market. Such a high price made it out of reach of common customers. Apple CEO Tim Cook had described it as a product for early adopters of technology, but this strategy did not work. People are willing to spend on products like iPhone, Mac and iPad, but making such a big investment on a new and uncertain product proved difficult. This is the reason why its sales after launch were much less than expected.
Vision Pro was not officially available in many countries of the world. Even if a user bought it from another country, he would not get full facilities from his country's Apple account. This made the user experience even more complex. For example, in countries like Brazil, an American account was required to use it. Also, local language support was also limited. If there was any fault in the device, service support was not available in those countries where it was not launched. This further reduced the trust of the users.
Third party app developers also did not show much enthusiasm regarding Vision Pro. Many big apps like Netflix and Spotify were not available on this platform. Even some of Apple's own important apps were not fully supported. Users had to resort to the browser to watch videos, which made the experience weak. Some entertainment apps like Apple TV and Disney Plus were definitely present, but the limited app ecosystem significantly reduced the usefulness of the device. This created a circle where as the users decreased, the developers moved further away.
It was not easy to use Vision Pro for a long time. Its battery life was limited to only 2 to 3 hours and that too with a separate battery pack. It felt heavy and uncomfortable when worn for a long time. Different seals and bands had to be tried to get the right fit, which was a complicated process for many users. Many Reddit users also said that it is difficult to wear it for a long time. Due to this, this product did not become comfortable for everyday use.
The role of voice assistant Siri was very important in advanced devices like Vision Pro, but it could not live up to the expectations. Many times Siri was not able to give correct answers even to simple questions. In such a situation, users reduced its use. While the device was based on gesture and voice controls, the weak AI assistant affected the entire experience. It is believed that Apple is now working on upgrading Siri, but till then Vision Pro could not get its full benefit.
