The election results of Assam and West Bengal are being discussed everywhere. In which there are many equations. There are messages and votes are mathematics. There are winning formulas as well. Meanwhile, Muslim vote was a big issue from West Bengal to Assam. This was mentioned in the announcements of the candidates and in their statements at election rallies and public meetings. The question is how important was the role of Muslim vote bank in the election results. For whom was it beneficial? To whom has it been harmful? Let us know how effective Muslim votes were in these two states.
If we talk about West Bengal, a total of 36 Muslim candidates won out of 293 seats. Most of these candidates are from TMC. In fact, 31 out of 47 Muslim candidates of Mamata Banerjee's party TMC have won. Two Muslim MLAs of Congress have also won. Apart from this, 1 Muslim MLA each from ISF and Left has won in West Bengal. Whereas in Bengal, Humayun Kabir, who talked about Babri Masjid, has himself won from both the seats.
Talking about Assam, the figures here are also giving many messages. A total of 22 Muslim MLAs have won in Assam. The thing to note is that 18 out of 20 Muslim candidates of Congress have won. In Assam, 2 Muslim MLAs belong to Badruddin Ajmal's party. 1 Muslim MLA is from Akhil Gogoi's party Raijor Dal and one Muslim MLA is from TMC.
Meanwhile, the big question is regarding West Bengal. Did Mamata Banerjee not get the outright votes of Muslims this time? Or this time the Muslim vote bank got divided in Bengal. However, experts are considering the division of Muslim vote bank as a major reason. It is being said that Muslim votes were divided among Congress, TMC, ISF, Humayun Kabir's party and leftist parties. Due to this, TMC has suffered huge losses even in districts like Murshidabad. Let us explain its mathematics to you with the information of only 2 districts.
Total seats in Malda, West Bengal are 12 seats. Here BJP has won 6 seats. There has been a gain of 2 seats compared to the year 2021. While TMC lost 2 seats. Let us tell you that out of the population of 39 lakh in Malda, 51.3 percent are Muslims. During SIR in Malda, 2 lakh 39 thousand names were removed. That means an average of 19,948 voters were removed from each seat. It is being claimed that here Muslim votes have been divided between TMC, Congress and Left.
Talking about Murshidabad, out of 22 seats, BJP has won 9 seats here, whereas in 2021 BJP had got only 2 seats. According to the 2011 census, the Muslim population in Murshidabad is 66.3 percent. In the year 2021, TMC had won 20 seats here, but this time it reduced to 9. It is being told that Humayun Kabir's party AJUP and local parties cut votes, due to which Mamata Banerjee suffered a loss and her party was reduced from 20 to 9 seats.
Another example is that TMC's strong leader Zakir Hussain lost in Jangipur assembly constituency. BJP's Chitta Mukherjee defeated him by more than 10 thousand votes. The biggest thing is that here Congress candidate Mohammad Imran Ali got about 31 thousand votes. However, there are many other factors benefiting BJP in West Bengal like SIR, development issue, polarization of Hindu votes and division of Muslim votes are also being considered as a reason.
Actually, like West Bengal, the results of Assam have also surprised. You should also understand what was the accounting of Muslim vote bank here. Congress has got a total of 19 seats in Assam. Out of which 18 are Muslims. Dr. Joy Prakash Das is the only non-Muslim MLA from Navboicha seat of Lakhimpur. It is being said that Muslim votes have been more towards Congress. The vote share of Badruddin Ajmal's party AIUDF has decreased from 9.3% to 5.5% in comparison to the year 2021. BJP claims that it benefited from the division of Muslim votes.
This time BJP has got a massive victory in Assam. On this, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma says that Assamese Muslims have also voted for BJP. For this reason BJP has got a bumper victory. He said that the votes of Bangladeshi Muslims were not wanted. Assamese Muslims have voted for him.
On this, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that BJP's concern is only about Bangladeshi Muslims. There is no problem with the local Muslims of Assam. He has also claimed that 25 percent of Muslims in Assam voted for BJP. In Assam, BJP has achieved a huge majority by winning 82 out of total 126 seats. He further said that I do not want the votes of Bangladeshi Muslims. He has described the victory of Assam as the victory of BJP, Modi and Hindus.
