Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK chief MK Stalin on Sunday wished the newly elected Chief Minister of the state Vijay. Along with this, he also advised to avoid blaming the previous government regarding the economic condition of the state. Stalin said that it is the responsibility of the new government to fulfill the election promises made to the people and people should not be misled on the pretext of financial crisis.
Actually, after taking oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thalapathy Vijay made many big announcements. He made many big promises like 200 units of free electricity, task force for women's safety. During this time, he also mentioned about the loan of Rs 10 lakh crore on Tamil Nadu. Former Chief Minister Stalin's reaction to his statement has come to light.
Stalin posted on social media platform However, he objected to Vijay's statement in which the new government had claimed that the previous DMK government had left a debt of Rs 10 lakh crore on the state.
Stalin said, 'Don't say from the beginning that the government does not have money. Money is there, what is needed is the will to give it to the public and the ability to run a better administration. He said that the DMK government during its five-year tenure implemented many public welfare schemes despite challenges like the Covid pandemic, floods and alleged neglect of the Central government. He said that the debt limit of Tamil Nadu is within the prescribed norms and the economic condition of the state was clearly stated in the budget presented in February. He said, 'When you made promises to the people during the elections, were you not aware of the financial condition of the state?
While giving advice to Vijay, the DMK chief said that one should not try to confuse the public or divert attention from the real issues. He said that during the election campaign, Vijay had come to power by saying – I will make the same promises to the people, so now he will have to fulfill those promises. He said, 'I am sure that like us, you too will soon learn the methods of fulfilling the promises made to the public. I, along with those who voted for you, hope the same. Once again, my best wishes for the continued development journey of Tamil Nadu under your rule!'
Earlier on Sunday, Vijay officially took charge at the Secretariat in Chennai soon after taking oath as the 13th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. He made this comment in this swearing-in ceremony. Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath to Vijay and 9 ministers at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
In his first address after becoming the Chief Minister, Vijay said that his government will usher in a new politics based on secularism and social justice. He promised the public that his government will not make false promises and will give only those assurances which can be fulfilled. Thanking the people of Tamil Nadu for their support, he said, 'I will never betray you with false promises. I will promise only what is possible'.
Vijay said that the DMK government has left the state with a debt of Rs 10 lakh crore and the government treasury has been emptied. He announced that his government will release a white paper on the fiscal situation from 2021 to 2026.
TVK, contesting for the first time in the 2026 assembly elections, created a major upheaval in the politics of Tamil Nadu by winning 108 seats. With this, the long-running political dominance of DMK and AIADMK in the state came to an end.
