Suriya and RJ Balaji’s Karuppu has become the first Tamil film in nine months to collect over Rs 100 crore in Tamil Nadu alone. It has also crossed Rs 200 crore worldwide within a week of release. Despite hitting screens on May 15, a day later than planned due to financial issues, Karuppu has emerged as the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026 and also marks Suriya’s biggest box office success to date. Trisha Krishnan’s role in Karuppu is not a regular one where the heroine runs around trees and romances the hero. Trisha plays Preethi in Karuppu, a smart and compassionate lawyer who is patient and driven by passion for her job. Trisha brings grace to her role, which is present throughout the film. Her reunion with Suriya after Mounam Pesiyadhe and Aaru is also one of the best parts of the film, which has thrilled fans.

 

Karuppu also introduces a new actor to the Tamil film audience in the form of Anagha Maya Ravi, who plays Binu Sukumaran.
