The International Cricket Council (ICC) is preparing to make major changes in the rules of cricket. These changes can be applied to all three formats – Test, ODI and T-20. Interestingly, the biggest change could be the use of different colored balls in the same format. The ICC revises the Laws of Cricket from time to time. These rules are currently being discussed. They will be implemented only after detailed discussion. Also, some rules regarding the head coach may be changed in ODI cricket, while the innings rest time in T20 cricket may also be reduced. If the proposals are approved at the ICC Board meeting to be held in Ahmedabad on May 30, the new rules could be implemented soon.

Also changes in the rules for head coaches

According to a report by Cricbuzz, the ICC may also change the rules for ODIs. In ODI cricket, new rules may be introduced regarding the head coach. As per the current rules, the head coach is not allowed on the field during the drinks break. Only substitutes are allowed on the field. This can be changed and the coach can be allowed to come on the field for the purpose of planning the strategy. Also, when a player comes to the field with drinks, he is required to wear a specific jersey. In T20 matches, coaches are already allowed to enter the field during breaks.

The color of the ball may change in a Test

The ICC may make the biggest change to the Test format. A pink ball may be used instead of a red ball during a Test match. If the match is stopped due to bad weather or insufficient lighting, the match may be restarted with the pink ball under floodlights with the consent of both teams.

Changes at the T20 innings break

The ICC may reduce the time allowed for innings breaks in T20 internationals. If the new rule comes into effect, the rest time between two innings will be reduced from 20 minutes to 15 minutes. This means teams will get five minutes less to rest and strategize for the next innings.

The umpire will focus on the bowling action

In order to prevent bowlers from making incorrect or illegal bowling actions (chucking), on-field umpires may be allowed to view the data obtained from the Hawkeye technology during live matches. Umpires can now disqualify bowlers who use illegal actions during matches.
