According to investigators, the FIR was registered when during interrogation the guards told the police that they had fired on the direct orders of Khan. He also claimed that Khan had asked him to fire at the crowd that had gathered at the gate of the institute and brutally assaulted a guard.
A police officer said that based on the statement of Assistant Sub-Inspector Anil Kumar, the FIR was registered under Section 109 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) and Sections 25, 27 and 35 of the Arms Act (related to illegal possession of weapons and misuse of weapons). The guards admitted that they fired two rounds at the behest of Khan Sir and Khan Sir had assured them that he would handle the consequences.
