The State Bank of India (SBI) has extended the application deadline for the 2026 apprentice recruitment, giving aspiring candidates extra time to submit their applications to the country's largest bank. Eligible candidates can apply until June 15, 2026, via SBI's official websites: www.sbi.co.in/careers or https://sbi.bank.in/web/careers/current-openings. However, candidates must register on the NAPS portal (https://apprenticeshipindia.gov.in) before applying online.

The application process began on May 19, and the original deadline was June 8; this has now been extended to June 15. This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 7,150 apprentice positions across various states and union territories.

What are the eligibility criteria?
Educational Qualification: Candidates holding a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university (or an equivalent qualification) are eligible to apply.
Age Limit: Candidates applying for these posts must be between 20 and 28 years of age as of April 1, 2026. Candidates must have been born between April 2, 1998, and April 1, 2006. The upper age limit is 28 years for Unreserved (UR) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates; however, relaxation in the upper age limit is available for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Class (OBC), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) categories.

What is the selection process?
The selection process for this recruitment consists of an online written examination followed by a local language proficiency test. The online examination will assess candidates' understanding of subjects such as General and Financial Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, and Computer Aptitude. Candidates who pass the online examination will be required to appear for and pass a local language proficiency test specific to the relevant state or union territory. However, candidates who have studied the requisite local language in Class 10 or Class 12 are exempt from taking this local language proficiency test.

What is the stipend?
The duration of the SBI apprenticeship will be one year. During this period, selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of ₹15,000. However, they will not be entitled to the benefits enjoyed by permanent SBI employees, such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Provident Fund, pension, medical facilities, and other service-related benefits.
