GS paper was lengthy and difficult.
According to teachers and UPSC aspirants, the General Studies (GS) paper in this year's UPSC Prelims was lengthier and more difficult compared to the previous year. This year, the exam included 19 questions on Economics, 11 on Environment, 13 on Geography, 20 on History and Art & Culture, 8 on Polity and Governance, and 18 on Science and Technology. The paper featured some unconventional questions with a unique pattern, which took many candidates by surprise. Overall, however, the paper was manageable for well-prepared candidates.
**Three New Exam Centers Added This Year**
This year, UPSC added three new examination centers—Kanpur and Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, and Bhubaneswar in Odisha—thereby easing the pressure on existing centers that handle large numbers of candidates. The total number of examination centers for the Civil Services Preliminary Examination has now risen from 80 to 83. According to the Commission, approximately 23,000 candidates opted to take the exam at these new centers.
