The most important scheme of the Central Government is the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi. Under this, income support of Rs 6,000 per year is transferred directly to the bank accounts of all land holding farmer families in three equal installments. Lakhs of farmers in Madhya Pradesh are taking advantage of this scheme. Similarly, Madhya Pradesh government also gives Rs 6000 per month to the farmers. This makes it easier for farmers to lead their lives. Under the Chief Minister Kisan Kalyan Yojana, an amount of more than Rs 20,878 crore has been transferred to the accounts of more than 84 lakh farmers.
19 lakh 4 thousand 644 farmers of the state have registered themselves for wheat procurement in the year 2026-27. A total of 3627 procurement centers have been made in the state this year for wheat procurement. In the last procurement year 2025-26, 15 lakh 44 thousand 55 farmers had registered for wheat procurement. The minimum support price of wheat for this procurement year has been fixed at Rs 2,625 per quintal.
Mohan Yadav government has increased the target of wheat procurement from 78 lakh metric tonnes to 100 lakh metric tonnes. With steps like uninterrupted procurement at support price, increasing the slot period and ensuring procurement six days a week, Madhya Pradesh became the leader in the country in wheat production and procurement. Due to this, farmers got fair price for their produce and increased transparency in crop sales.
Under the Farmers Welfare Year, a provision has been made by the government to give compensation four times the market rate on the acquisition of agricultural land in rural areas. This decision is providing economic security to the farmers while striking a balance between the development works and the interests of the farmers. In addition to the support price on urad, a bonus of Rs 600 per quintal is being given. Bhavantar scheme for mustard has been expanded. Relief packages have also been distributed by the government to disaster affected farmers.
By declaring 2026 as the Agricultural Welfare Year, the state government has taken concrete steps towards increasing the income of farmers, providing them economic security and modern agriculture. The Cabinet has approved schemes worth thousands of crores of rupees related to farmer welfare.
Under Krishak Mitra Yojana, solar irrigation pumps have been distributed at 90% subsidy, due to which farmers are becoming self-reliant by reducing their dependence on electricity. Special emphasis is being laid on agricultural income diversification and organic farming by promoting milk production, fisheries, horticulture and third crop. Madhya Pradesh is the only state in the country where electricity connections are being provided to farmers at Rs 5.
To make cow shelters self-reliant, tractor-trolleys and straw machines are being provided. Due to the farmer-centric policies of the government, milk collection in the state is also increasing rapidly. All these efforts have an important contribution in the state's agricultural growth rate reaching 16%.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav believes that without increasing the income of farmers, all-round development of the state is not possible. The central and state governments stand with the farmers in all their joys and sorrows through direct benefits, fair prices, modern irrigation, diversification and disaster relief.
