Mohammed Salah was 14 years old when he traveled 9 hours every day for practice. During this journey, he used to travel in 10 buses every day. Salah used to go to school at 7 in the morning. His journey to reach the football practice ground began 2 hours after school. Mohammed Salah did this continuously for 4 years. That struggle helped Salah become a better player.
Recalling the early days of his career in an interview given in 2017, Salah said that initially he played for a club which was half an hour away from his village. After that he joined Tanta Club which was one and a half hour away. From there he connected with Arab contractors in Cairo, which was 4 or 4 and a half hours away from his village. He told that he used to train there 5 days a week.
Salah further told in the interview that he used to take early leave from school for training. He used to reach school at 7 in the morning and leave from there at 9 o'clock. For this he had special permission so that he could reach training by 2 o'clock.
Salah said that he used to reach for training by 2-2.30 o'clock. Training started at 3:30-4 o'clock and ended at 6 o'clock. He would leave for home after 6 o'clock and reach home by 10-10:30. Then after eating and drinking, they would sleep and the next day the same routine again.
