Big announcement by Delhi government, all slums will be rehabilitated by January 1, 2025

Delhi government has taken an important decision for the slum dwellers today on Tuesday. In the DUSIB meeting led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, it was decided that by January 1, 2025, the benefits of the rehabilitation scheme will be given to the residents of all the slums in the capital. Due to this rehabilitation scheme, thousands of families living in Delhi will be able to benefit.

An important proposal related to rehabilitation was approved in the DUSIB board meeting under the leadership of CM Rekha Gupta. Taking a historic decision in the meeting, the Delhi government has decided that the residents of all the slums in the national capital will be rehabilitated by January 1, 2025. The government has also expanded the scope of rehabilitation in its decision.

Important decision in the 36th board meeting of DUSIB

A statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office said, "A historic decision was taken in the 36th board meeting of Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB), this meeting was chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. In the meeting, it was decided that the benefits of rehabilitation will be given to the residents of any slum settled in Delhi till January 1, 2025."

Earlier last week, on June 16, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had announced that the Delhi Slum and Jhuggi Jhopri Rehabilitation and Resettlement Policy, 2026 has been finalized, which will benefit 4 lakh families living in such places. He said that the Delhi government should issue tenders for at least 5 rehabilitation projects every month based on the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.

Amit Shah had an important meeting last week

Leading a review meeting on the rehabilitation of slum dwellers in Delhi, the Home Minister directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) to issue tenders for 5 slums within 45 days. He also directed the officials to prepare project documents and tender proposals for additional 50 slums.

Then Amit Shah had said that the eligibility date for slums should be fixed as January 1, 2025. Apart from Amit Shah, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and other senior ministers and officials attended this meeting.
