Delhi government will bear the entire expense of this entire scheme. About Rs 200 crore will be spent annually on this scheme. This scheme (Delhi Building and Construction Workers Health Scheme) will benefit 2.70 lakh construction workers and their families registered in Delhi. In this, every registered worker will get free treatment up to Rs 2 lakh in listed hospitals.

Cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh

At the same time, this limit will be up to Rs 10 lakh for the entire family. Apart from this, under this scheme, apart from serious diseases, facilities like free health checkup every year, deployment of mobile medical units at construction sites and 24-hour helpline will also be available. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the entire treatment will be cashless. Workers and their families will not have to spend a single penny for treatment.

He further said that construction workers are the foundation of Delhi's development and it is the responsibility of the government to strengthen their health and social security. He said that the workers' spouses, children and parents will also be included in this scheme. They will also get treatment without paying. Under this scheme, free health checkup will also be done to the registered workers and their spouses every year.

The Chief Minister said that construction workers have to face very difficult conditions during their work. Dust emanating from stone cutting, chemicals, loud noise, heavy machines… they have to face all this every day. Due to this, they are at risk of silicosis (severe lung disease), respiratory diseases, skin diseases and other serious health problems. There was no good and comprehensive health scheme for these laborers for a long time. Keeping these problems in mind, we have made this new plan.
