Sohail Khan Horror Movies: The three big Khans of Bollywood – Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan have given many films to the industry. But apart from these three Khans, there is also a Khan of Bollywood who gave many flop films in his career. That Khan belongs to a big family of the industry. He gave only a few hit films in his career, while most of the films flopped at the box office. Often the top actors of the industry and Khan are not seen in horror films, but this Khan did not one but two horror films. Although both flopped badly at the time of release, they are today considered cult classics.
We are talking about Salman Khan's younger brother Sohail Khan. Sohail started his film career in the year 2002 with the film 'Maine Tujhko Dil Diya'. But his career as a hero was nothing special and mostly flop films came to his credit. Apart from acting, Sohail also tried his hand in direction and directed 'Auzaar' in the year 1997, but his journey in direction also did not last long. Whatever may have been Sohail Khan's other films, his horror films are still talked about. Sohail Khan gave films like 'Krishna Cottage' and 'Darna Mana Hai', which flopped at the box office, but today they have achieved cult status.
Sohail Khan's first horror film 'Krishna Cottage' was released in the year 2004. Artists like Isha Koppikar, Vijay Raj, Rajpal Yadav and Paresh Rawal were seen with him in the film. The story of the film, directed by Santram Verma, revolved around a mysterious bungalow and the spirit present in it. At the time of release, the film's story, background score and horror atmosphere were praised, but it flopped due to weak promotion and poor response at the box office. However, with time this film became included in the cult films of horror genre.
Sohail Khan also worked in Ram Gopal Varma's film 'Darna Mana Hai' in 2003. Many stars including Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu, Aftab Shivdasani, Shilpa Shetty, Nana Patekar, Rajat Bedi were seen in this multi-starrer horror anthology film. The cinematography, background music and concept of this film, based on six different horror stories, were highly appreciated, but at the box office, the film failed to attract people to the theatre. Later, this film created its own identity on TV and OTT and today it is also counted among the cult horror films.
Both these horror films of Sohail Khan could not do much at the box office at the time of their release. But with time, the story, screenplay, background music and horror elements of these films were liked by the audience. This is the reason why today 'Krishna Cottage' and 'Darna Mana Hai' are counted among the best cult horror films of Bollywood and even today horror film lovers like to watch them again and again.
