The Commission official has given this information. He says that those voters whose name is in the voter list of 2025 but not in the list of 2002, they will have to tell the name of any of their relatives, whose name is recorded in the voter list of 2002.
Karnataka's Joint Chief Electoral Officer S Yogeshwar said, if your name or your family member's name is not in the 2002 SIR list, you can choose the option of child and relative or register as a new voter by filling Form 6 during claim-objection. The Joint Chief Electoral Officer further said that if your parents' names are not in the voter list of 2002, then there is no need to panic. You can mention the names of any of your paternal or maternal relatives (like maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents, uncles, aunts, maternal uncles, aunts, etc.) whose names appear in the 2002 list. The officer said that no matter which state of India the relative lives in, there is no problem. The BLO will check their information from the central government portal.
The official said there is no need to submit any additional documents along with the census form to prove relationship. If you receive a notice asking for additional documents after the draft of the voter list is published, then submit any one of the 12 documents accepted by the Election Commission. Those whose relatives are not found in the 2002 list will be treated as new voters.
He told that the draft voter list will be published on August 5. After that there will be time for claims and objections from 5th August to 4th September. During this time, if your name has not appeared in the list, then you can claim to include your name by filling Form-6, giving a mandatory declaration form and any one of the 12 approved documents.
