Diljit Dosanjh Satluj Movie Controversy: Diljit Dosanjh's film Satluj was released on OTT platform Zee5 on July 3. However, this film was removed from the app just two days after its release. Since then there is a lot of discussion about this film. Now the central government is going to send this film to the inter-departmental committee constituted under the Information Technology (IT) Rules, 2021 for investigation and further action.

In a PTI news, a source was quoted as saying that Diljit Dosanjh The matter related to 'Sutlej' film is now going to be investigated by an inter-departmental committee constituted under the Information Technology Rules, 2021. This committee considers complaints related to content published by OTT platforms, as well as digital news publishers. After that its report is submitted to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The committee can make changes in the content

After the investigation, the committee can suggest many different measures, which include things like an apology, instructions to give clarification, as well as making any changes in the content. Not only this, if the committee feels the need, it also recommends removing or blocking the content.

The content shown on OTT platforms does not come under the purview of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). These are regulated under Part III of the IT Rules, 2021. Let us tell you that citing 'security concerns', G5 was instructed to remove Satluj.

This film is based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. Earlier this film was going to be released in theaters with the name of 'Punjab 95'. CBFC had suggested about 100 cuts in the film. But the makers changed the name of the film and released it on ZEE5. An official of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting told news agency ANI that this is a violation of the provisions of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. Now it remains to be seen what happens after the committee's investigation in this matter.
