Incidents of clashes between protesters and police have once again come to light at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, Connaught Place and Tolstoy Marg on Wednesday night. Around 8.30 pm, miscreants under the cover of protesters attacked the RAF and policemen. The miscreants started pelting stones at the police and other security forces. In response to which the police had to resort to lathicharge. Meanwhile, some miscreants surrounded some RAF soldiers and beat them up. However, after heavy security forces arrived at the spot, the miscreants fled from there.
During this, the mob attacked the policemen with stones and bottles, in which ACP Connaught Place Vivek Bhagat got injured. The senior officer himself took him to RML Hospital. To stop the protesters, the police had to release tear gas shells. Then the miscreants present in the crowd ran away from there. It is being told that five policemen including two ACPs have been injured in the disturbance. Meanwhile, there have been reports of miscreants brandishing swords and Khukri.
Protestors are still gathering at Connaught Place and Tolstoy Marg. Due to this the situation still remains tense. Heavy security force is deployed at the spot. Whereas the situation at Jantar Mantar is said to be normal. Lis says that at present the situation is normal. Police say that some unruly elements had joined the protest. After which the miscreants, after pelting stones, also threw bottles at the soldiers.
According to sources, despite internet being shut in New Delhi area, maximum messaging is happening in Jantar Mantar and Connaught Place areas, especially Tolstoy Marg and Janpath. In these areas, exchange of network connections and SMS is happening the most. Are the protesters present at Jantar Mantar giving instructions to the people present in New Delhi for violence? Evidence pointing towards such a conspiracy has emerged and the police is investigating the matter separately.
