Reports claim that great captain MS Dhoni is also a part of this ongoing conversation between Mumbai and Chennai. Initially, Mumbai Indians had demanded youngsters Ayush Mhatre and Shivam Dubey from CSK in exchange for Hardik Pandya. However, Chennai refused to give Mhatre and proposed to include South African batsman Dewald Brevis in return, but a big condition has been put in it.
Chennai Super Kings is a little cautious about Dewald Brevis. IPL 2026 was nothing special for Brewis, where he scored only 151 runs in 8 matches. Apart from this, his strike rate in International T20 has also fallen from 176.42 last year to 145.22 in 2026, where he scored 228 runs in 11 matches. Therefore, CSK's bet is that they will look at Brewis' form in The Hundred 2026 going on in England, where he is playing for MI London.
According to reports, if Brewis performs brilliantly in The Hundred, then CSK would like to keep him and will offer Mumbai Rs 10 crore cash in exchange for Hardik along with Shivam Dubey. At the same time, if Brevis' performance remains poor, then CSK will give both Shivam Dubey and Dewald Brevis to Mumbai Indians and include Hardik Pandya in their team.
