Due to overnight rain, the opening session of the second Test between India and Bangladesh was delayed. However, Rohit Sharma’s team made quick work of establishing their dominance once play began.

The ground crew put in a lot of effort to get the play going despite the Green Park venue being covered on Friday morning and an hourly delay in the toss. In an unexpected decision, India captain Rohit chose to bowl first after winning the toss.

The hosts were ahead thanks to two early wickets taken by Akash Deep, whose second wicket of Shadman Islam in particular came out of thin air. When the Indian team celebrated the dismissal and the DRS replays revealed three reds, Rohit Sharma’s million-dollar response perfectly captured his feelings.

Bangladesh got off to a strong start as Zakir Hasan was dismissed in the first over by Akash Deep. Shortly after, however, Shadman was ordered back into the dugout, although not before a significant turnabout.

India’s plea for an LBW had been first denied by the umpire; the bowler was sure that Shadman was plumb. By refusing to back down, he persuaded Rohit Sharma to approach the third umpire. The Indian skipper was shocked to learn that the ball would finally pierce the leg stump, according to the DRS review.

He did, however, express his joy at the wicket and congratulate Akash Deep on his decisive judgment and spot-on decision, which turned out to be a masterstroke. Bangladesh lost their first-hour match against both of their openers.

The two early setbacks were largely offset for Bangladesh thanks to a strong connection between Mominul Haque and skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto. Together, they steadied the ship and re-entered the contest with the guests.

Previous rumors suggested that Mohammed Siraj or Akash Deep would be rested from the second Test to make room for indigenous talent Kuldeep Yadav. However, Rohit stuck to his three pacers from the first game and chose to play the same lineup.
