However, the movie didn't perform well. A large section of the audience criticised the movie. In an interview recently, Saif Ali Khan was asked about the same. The actor earlier spoke about the movie's failure at the box office. However, it's the first time he shared his thoughts on the severe backlash and fiasco around it. At the India Today Conclave, the Omkara star said that there was a case or decision taken up by the court that mentioned that an actor is responsible for whatever they say on screen. Saif mentioned how many people are not free to say or do whatever they want. They all have to police themselves a bit and also be careful, otherwise they would land in trouble. The Devara star added, "There are certain areas like religion that you need to stay away from. We are not here to make trouble." In the same interaction, Saif spoke about the issues he faced when he played a politician in the Amazon Prime Video series in 2021. "So, you learn from the job. You need to be away from these areas. Our profession is to bring the whole country together, irrespective of caste and creed."
