The India launch has been officially confirmed, marking it as the first mid-range A Series smartphone from Samsung to offer six generations of OS upgrades. This announcement came soon after the Galaxy A16 5G was listed in the Netherlands, although the India-specific launch date has yet to be revealed.

The official listing provides detailed information about the phone’s specifications, which are likely to be the same in India.

• Display: The Galaxy A16 5G will feature a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. It also sports a waterdrop notch for the front camera.
• Processor: Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy A16 5G will be powered by a MediaTek chipset, potentially the Dimensity 6300. However, in some global markets, the phone may launch with the Exynos 1330 chipset.
• RAM and Storage: The phone will have 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card.
• Cameras: The Galaxy A16 5G will have a 50MP primary camera, a 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro lens on the back. For selfies, it features a 13MP front camera.
• Colours: The phone will be available in three colours: Light Green, Light Grey, and Blue Black.
• Software: The device will run Android 14-based One UI 6.1.1 out of the box and is set to receive six Android OS upgrades along with security updates.
• Battery and Charging: The Galaxy A16 5G packs a 5,000mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging.

The Galaxy A16 5G will be the successor to the Galaxy A15 5G, which was launched in India last December with a starting price of Rs 19,499. Samsung is expected to price the Galaxy A16 5G similarly in India. A 4G variant of the phone is also rumored, although Samsung has not yet provided any official confirmation.
