Former Prime Minister of the country Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away at the age of 92. He was undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, where he breathed his last on 26 December 2024 at 9:51 pm.
Dr. Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014. He was known for his simplicity, dedication to work and gentleness. After leaving the post of Prime Minister, he distanced himself from active politics and started spending his life with his family. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Gursharan Kaur and three daughters.
Dr. Singh played an important role in the economic reforms of the country and gave India recognition in the global economy. He was the Chief Economic Adviser of India from 1972 to 1976 and served as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) from 1982 to 1985.

Dr. Manmohan Singh followed a simple lifestyle throughout his life. He had a total property worth Rs 15.77 crore. Two flats are registered in his name in Delhi and Chandigarh. According to the affidavit, he had no debt.
While being the Prime Minister in 2013, he had given details of his assets. He had residential properties worth Rs 7.27 crore. He had Rs 3.46 crore deposited in his bank account. Apart from this, he also declared ownership of 150.80 grams of gold jewellery, the current value of which is around Rs 11 lakh.
Dr. Manmohan Singh is counted among the best economists of the country. He took many historic steps to strengthen the country's economy. During his tenure, India touched new heights of economic progress at the global level. With his demise, the country has lost a true patriot and a great economist. His contribution will remain a source of inspiration for generations to come.
