The Hyundai Creta has long been a favorite among Indian consumers, securing its place as the fifth top-selling passenger vehicle in 2024. Now, Hyundai is set to take things up a notch with the all-new Creta EV, an all-electric version of its popular SUV. Scheduled to debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, which kicks off on January 17, the Creta EV promises to build on the success of its ICE-powered counterpart while adding EV-specific design updates and technologies.

Hyundai Creta Design Evolution: Creta EV vs. Creta ICE

While the Hyundai Creta EV shares a similar silhouette with the traditional ICE-powered Creta, several design tweaks differentiate the electric model. These updates not only enhance the vehicle’s aerodynamics but also align it with Hyundai’s broader electric vehicle identity. Let’s dive into the key design differences that make the Creta EV stand out.

Exterior Design Updates

The Creta EV retains the overall silhouette of the ICE model, maintaining its strong, muscular stance. However, some distinctive features are tailored to its electric powertrain:

  • Pixel Theme and Aerodynamics: A standout feature of the Creta EV is its pixel-themed design, which aligns with Hyundai’s visual identity for electric vehicles. This theme sets it apart from the standard Creta and gives it a modern, tech-forward appearance.
  • Sealed-off Radiator Grille and Air Dam: As an EV, the Creta Electric does away with the conventional grille, replacing it with a sealed-off radiator grille and air dam to enhance its aerodynamic efficiency, which is critical for electric cars.
  • Active Air Flat Technology: Borrowing from the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Creta EV features Active Air Flat technology, allowing the air flaps to open and close to regulate cooling and airflow—a first-in-segment feature.
  • Charging Port and Front Camera: In a notable shift, the front camera of the Creta EV is positioned above the Hyundai logo, and the charging port is placed underneath it—another clear indication that this is a fully electric model.
  • Sharper Arches and Slimmer Skid Plates: The Creta EV is equipped with sharper wheel arches and a slimmer silver skid plate, which differentiate it from the ICE version, adding a more streamlined, futuristic look.
Side Profile and Rear Design

The Creta EV continues to evolve in its side and rear design:

  • Aerodynamic Alloy Wheels: The side profile of the Creta EV includes EV-specific aerodynamic alloy wheels, designed for better efficiency.
  • Blacked-Out C-Pillar: In a design twist, the Creta EV features a blacked-out C-pillar in its dual-tone variants, while the ICE version features a silver C-pillar.
  • New Rear Skid Plate and Reflector Design: At the rear, the Creta EV gets slimmer reflectors, a more angular skid plate, and an additional reverse light, setting it apart from the Creta ICE.
  • EV Badge: The Creta EV sports an EV badge on the tailgate, while the ICE version prominently displays its variant name.
Color Options and Customization

Hyundai is offering a total of 10 exterior shades for the Creta EV, including three matte finishes. These will comprise eight monotone and two dual-tone color options, giving buyers a wide range of choices. In comparison, the Creta ICE is available in seven colors.
