Ajmer Lesbian Girl: Awareness about 'LGBTQ (lesbian)' community has increased in the country, but there is still rejection in society and family regarding homosexual relationships. One such case has come to light from Rupangarh in Ajmer district of Rajasthan. Here 22-year-old Anu Rao has expressed her desire to marry her distant aunt Shalu Rao by submitting a memorandum to District Superintendent of Police Vandita Rana.
Anu, a resident of Brahmins' locality of Rupangarh, said that she has known Shalu Rao of her own village for the last 10 years. During school, a love affair started between the two in the last two years.
Shalu's family against marriage
After getting information about Anu and Shalu's relationship, Shalu's family got angry. They decided to get Shalu married to someone else. However, Shalu wants to stay with Anu. Anu's family requested Shalu's family to get them married, but Shalu's family abused and pushed them out of the house.
SP assured action
Anu said that she appealed to the District Superintendent of Police for justice in this matter. SP Vandita Rana has assured to take Shalu's statement and take appropriate action in the matter.
Homosexual relations became legal in 2018
In India, homosexual relations were legalized by repealing Section 377 in 2018. Despite this, it is difficult to get acceptance at the social level.
