Sangam city became inauspicious on Tuesday night. The pressure of the crowd in Maha Kumbh increased so much that a stampede occurred. 17 people died in this, although the death toll is being reported to be much higher. A large number of people are injured.
There is a queue of ambulances carrying the injured to the Maha Kumbh hospital. The entire administration is engaged in relief and rescue work. The tragic accident took place near Sangam coast at around 2 o'clock in the night.
Jam situation at railway gate Bharwari
Dainik Bharwari, Railway gate Bharwari was crowded since Wednesday morning due to the crowd of bathers who had come out for bathing on Mauni Amavasya. During this time, many devotees coming from every corner of the country for Kumbh Yatra in their private vehicles are leaving for Chitrakoot via Bharwari, due to which there is movement of vehicles day and night. At around 9:30 in the morning, the local police and RPF police were nowhere to be seen to control the crowd near the railway gate.
During this time, Mahesh Garg, a resident of Haryana, who was going with his family in his private vehicle to visit Chitrakoot, said that he had left the Kumbh Mela at 10 pm on Tuesday after bathing in Prayagraj Kumbh and after resting overnight on the way, he is now going to visit Chitrakoot and said that he is very sad to hear about the Kumbh accident. We also had shortcomings behind this.
This tragic incident is highlighting the chaos of this fair and the failures of the Uttar Pradesh government. The Yogi government spent all the money only on its branding and marketing and not on the arrangements for the devotees who came to the Maha Kumbh, this shows the insensitivity of this government.
We were constantly trying to alert about such incidents but the government and administration did not pay any heed.
I have deep condolences for the families of the victims of the accident.
We pray for the peace of the souls of the dead and the speedy recovery of the injured.
Along with this, we urge the government to make arrangements for proper compensation for the dead and free treatment along with compensation to the injured.
On the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, a huge crowd of devotees is gathering in the Maha Kumbh area for Amrit Snan at Triveni Sangam. Till 6 am today, 1.75 crore people have taken the holy bath. According to the Uttar Pradesh government, till January 28, a total of 19.94 crore people have taken the holy bath during the Maha Kumbh.
