Condom use has decreased worldwide and in this case, pornography, platforms like OnlyFans and policies like natural family planning are considered to be the main reasons. Sarah Pratt, sexual health teacher of the Global Youth Organization (YMCA), says, "Many boys do not use condoms because they do not see it being used in porn videos." Apart from this, lack of sex education is also being cited as the reason for the decreasing interest in condoms among the youth.

Status of decrease in condom use
The World Health Organization (WHO) recently conducted a survey in 42 countries of Europe and the Middle East, in which 2,42,000 adolescents aged 15 years were asked questions about condom use. According to the survey, the number of boys who used condoms in their last sexual intercourse in 2014 was 70%, which decreased to 61% in 2022.

Girls are also not behind
The report also revealed that girls are also showing a decrease in the use of condoms or contraceptive pills. This number has now come down from 63% to 57% and they are also using emergency contraceptive pills less.

Who is at the forefront in not using condoms?
The WHO survey also revealed that between 2014 and 2022, 26% of girls did not take contraceptive pills during sex and 33% of adolescents in lower middle class families did not use condoms. This figure was 25% in upper class families.

The WHO has appealed to the youth to use condoms while having sex, so that sexually transmitted infections (STIs) can be avoided.
