On the occasion of Mahashivaratri, spiritual guru Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev is organizing Isha Mahashivratri 2025 ceremony at his Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. The event started from 6 pm on Wednesday and will run till 6 am on Thursday. During this event, Sadhguru taught many people to show the way.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also attended this grand event as chief guest and Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka DK Shivkumar. During this event, Sadhguru also answered the questions of people watching him online. Meanwhile, a person asked, there is a lot of political debate about caste census, what is the importance of caste census in today's time? In response to this question, Sadhguru said, caste should be the terminology of the past, not the future. We do not need it in the 21st century. In this 21st century, we should not divide the society on the basis of caste.

Sadhguru told the meaning of caste

Sadhguru started his talk in response to this question. He said, caste means that there was a time when there were no technical colleges, no training institutes were present. The only place where you used to get life training was your family and you used to learn skills from your own caste people.

So if your father is a blacksmith, then you used to get training to become a blacksmith and you were also married to a girl who is from another blacksmith's family, because you would like to marry a woman who knows about the needs of that kind of family. So over time, this thing became a traditional process, through which different people used to do different things.

"We don't need it"

Sadhguru further said, the goldsmith that was somewhere during the time started thinking that he is better than the blacksmith. However, you can live without a goldsmith, but we cannot live without blacksmiths. But the goldsmith began to think that if he is better than the blacksmith, then it started happening in the society that someone stupid thinks that he is better than another person. If you feel that you can do better work than another person, that's why you are better, but if you feel that you are better than someone else, then you have gone from work.

Regarding caste, he further said, then a tradition which used to deliver skills to people from generation to generation gradually changed and it took some bad things. Even today, this discrimination is still present in rural India, but if seen at the second level, it is a social security system.

Regarding caste census, Sadhguru said, caste should be the terminology of the past, not of the future. We do not need it in the 21st century. In this 21st century, we should not divide the society on the basis of caste. This is being talked about, I know but I do not think it is the right place to go ahead. It is important that people start forgetting what their caste is, we create a society where everyone is given help, everyone has a way to earn livelihood, everyone gets a chance to progress.

He further said, here we do not even ask you at the yoga center, we do not even know what religion you belong to, which caste you belong to, who are you, if you look like a human, then we have no problem with you. Who was your father, should not decide who you are. A society where you are known by your abilities, are known by your ways of being, but not to do which your father was, it has come to do it.
