A shocking case has emerged in Shivpuri district. In Sakhanore village of Kolaras tehsil area, electric workers cut the light of the village due to the electricity bill arrears. Angered by this, the villagers surrounded the power office. During the protest, a farmer tried to hang a noose from the rope at the office gate, which was barely deemed to be taken off.
According to the information, there are electricity connections of about 50 farmers in Sakhanore village. These farmers owe an electricity bill of about 4 lakh 50 thousand rupees. According to Santosh Singh Lodhi, the sarpanch of the village, eight to ten farmers of the village are outstanding a bill of large amount, while the remaining farmers are outstanding bills of two to five thousand rupees. In such a situation, the farmers said that the electricity connections of the people whose big bills are outstanding should be cut.
The farmers who are outstanding the amount of two to four thousand rupees, they are talking about paying the bill when the crop comes, because the electricity bill is deposited once in six months. Despite this, JE Sumit Jha of the Electricity Board cut the light of the entire village. To register protest of this, farmers surrounded the office of Kolaras Electricity Department on Wednesday evening.
During the protest, a farmer Vinod Dangi tried to hang himself at the electrical office by putting a noose around his neck due to trouble, which was stopped by fellow farmers. Electricity department employees say that the village owes a bill of about five lakh rupees, so the light is deducted. However, after talks with the villagers, they have been assured that the lights of those villagers will be added on Thursday, who do not have big bills. The farmers returned to their village after assurance of the employees of the Electricity Department.
Farmers say that if the lights are not added till tomorrow, they will not only protest at the office of the Electricity Department, but will also give life by consuming poison here, because their crop has come on the verge of drying up. Due to lack of electricity, they will not be able to give water to the crop. Even in such circumstances, they will have to commit suicide by burning the debt burden.
It is better that we will commit suicide right now. According to the farmers, electricity is not coming in the village in the same way for the last eight days. For this reason, he is not able to irrigate the fields. In this whole case, Naib Tehsildar Shailendra Bhargava says that farmers have been assured. Tomorrow till 12 o'clock, the light of his village will be added.
