A plane in the skies over Britain has issued an emergency alert as crews report a "mechanical failure".

Flight PGT38X was closing in on its arrival at Airport from Istanbul when it put out the alert. Footage later showed Pegasus Airlines plane arriving at the airport, amid a cloud of smoke as it touched down.

Shocking images of the Airbus A320 seemed to show parts of the plane hanging down as it landed on the tarmac, which appear to be its hold doors.
