The Government of India has launched several schemes to make the future of daughters safe and prosperous. One of these plans is the Tado plan which gives 1 lakh rupees on the birth of a daughter in 5 districts of Rajasthan. This amount is deposited directly to the daughter's bank account, which is useful for her education or marriage. Under this scheme, a total of Rs 2500 is given on the birth of a daughter and a total of Rs 1 lakh in 7instalmentss by the age of 21 years.
The main objective of this scheme is to promote the birth rate of daughters and ensure their socio-economic uplift. The Rajasthan government has started it as a pilot project, which will later be implemented in the entire state. Under the scheme, 2500 rupees are given on the birth of a daughter, and every year 1000 rupees are deposited in her name. This process continues until the daughter turns 21 years old.
Central governmentSukanya Samriddhi YojanaThere is also a boon for daughters. In this scheme, an account in the name of the daughter can be deposited up to Rs 1.5 lakh every year. This amount increases with a compound interest of 8.2% and the entire amount can be withdrawn when the daughter is 21 years. The biggest advantage of this scheme is that it also gets tax exemption under the Income Tax Act.
In Jammu and Kashmir and DelhiLadli daughter scheme has proved to be quite effective. Under this scheme, the government deposits 1000 rupees in the bank in the name of the daughter every month, which continues for 14 years. By the age of 21, this amount reaches 6 lakh rupees. This money can be used for a daughter's education or marriage. Special assistance is also given at the time of admission in classes 1, 6, 9 and 12 under this scheme in Delhi.
Central government saves daughter, teaches daughterThe plan has helped to change the attitude towards daughters in society. Under this scheme, girls are encouraged for education and access to their health services is increased. Although this scheme does not directly give cash transfers, it has been successful in bringing positive changes towards daughters in society.
To take advantage of these schemes, the daughter must be an Indian citizen. Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana should be less than 10 years of age, while in Ladli Beti Yojana, she should be born after 1 April 2015. For application, daughter's birth certificate, parents' Aadhaar card and bank account details are required.
