Prakash Jha, who hails a middle family, was born on February 27, 1952 in Champaran, Bihar. Prakash Jha did his studies from the Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1 of Bokaro city and Sainik School in Tilaiya in Koderma district. He then completed his graduation from Ramjas College, University of Delhi. But at that time his interest started moving towards painting. After this, he decided to go to Mumbai to become a painter. Due to this, he enrolled in the Film and Television Institute in the year 1973.
Prakash Jha married Bollywood actress Deepti Naval in 1985. A few years later, he adopted a daughter, named Disha. At the same time, Prakash Jha also has a son, Priyaranjan, but regrettably his relationship with Deepti Naval deteriorated after a few years and due to which both of them divorced in 2005.
Prakash Jha started his career with the documentary 'Under the Blue'. But his work was appreciated when he made a short film over the riots of Bihar. However, the film was banned a few days after its release; But Prakash Jha was awarded the 'National Award' for this short film. But in the midst of this era, there was a time when he faced problems in his life. In his struggle, he had no money for household rent and food. According to media reports, when Prakash Jha went to Mumbai, he had no money. In such a situation, many of his nights spent on the sidewalk of Juhu Beach.
In 2010, Prakash Jha produced the film 'Politics', which was highly appreciated by the audience and critics. The film featured Ajay Devgan, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Vajpayee, Ranbir Kapoor in the lead roles. After this, he brought another social issue 'reservation' on screen. The film featured Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Prateek Babbar in the lead roles. Although the film could not make the audience a lot, the film was very much liked by critics.
