In a significant police operation in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, a known criminal connected to the Lawrence Bishnoi Gang who had a Rs 1 lakh reward was slain Wednesday after a run-in with the Special Task Force (STF).
After being wounded in the firefight, the criminal—who went by Jeetu alias Jitendra—was taken to a hospital, where he eventually passed away.
The STF had a violent run-in with a group of criminals in the Mundali police station area of Meerut, according to police sources. One of the crooks was seriously hurt during the incident and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Jeetu was recognized as the wounded culprit; he passed away while receiving treatment.
Asounda hamlet in the Jhajjar region of Haryana is home to Jeetu, who engaged in a number of illegal activities. Eight criminal cases were filed against him for a variety of offenses.
In 2016, Jeetu was found guilty of two murders in Jhajjar and given a life sentence. He did, however, escape from jail after being given release in 2023.
Following his escape, he committed a murder in the Tilamod neighborhood of Ghaziabad, shooting and killing a person on commission. He has been evading capture ever since.
Jeetu connected with members of the infamous Lawrence Bishnoi gang while incarcerated. He joined the gang after his escape and started taking part in their illicit operations. A reward of Rs one lakh had been offered by the police for any information that would result in his detention.
