However after months of their marriage Sonakshi has now opened up about their bond saying that religion was never a factor in their relationship and that neither of them ever asked the other to convert. In an interview with Hauterrfly Sinha addressed peoples concerns about choosing religion after her marriage. She said Religion was never a factor for us. We are two people in love who wanted to get married and that’s exactly what we did. He isn’t imposing his religion on me and I’m not imposing mine on him. We never even discussed religion-it’s just not something we sit and talk about. Instead we appreciate and understand each other’s cultures. His family has their traditions and I have mine. I respect their culture just as they respect me and my family. That’s how it should be. Zaheers father Iqbal Ratanasi on whether he wants Sonakshi Sinha to convert to Islam However Iqbal Ratanasi Zaheers father has confirmed that Sonakshi will not convert to Islam after their marriage. He emphasized that the wedding will be a civil ceremony without any Muslim or Hindu rituals. Speaking to the Free Press Journal Ratanasi stated Sonakshi will not convert to Islam after the marriage. The wedding will not include Muslim or Hindu rituals; it will be a civil marriage. He further stressed She is not converting and that is certain. Theirs is a union of hearts and religion has no role to play whatsoever. Sonakshi and Zareers wedding under Special Marriage Act Sonakshi and Zaheers wedding has been registered under the Special Marriage Act of 1954 ensuring a legal and secular union. The ceremony took place at Zaheers residence on Carter Road in Bandra and later a reception was thrown for all the friends and family.
