NGO Opening Process: There are many NGOs in the country and the world. NGO means Non Governmental Organization. If we talk about the whole country, there are about 30 lakh registered NGOs. There are more than 13000 NGOs in the country's capital Delhi itself. There are many types of NGOs across the country. Which are created for different things. If we talk about them, they work on social, economic, education and environmental issues.

How can one apply for an NGO?
Actually, it is not just something written on a certificate. It is duly registered. If you are thinking of opening any kind of NGO, then you have to go through a whole process. It is important to know about many things to get an NGO registered. This will not make it difficult to complete the process.
First of all, you should know what the NGO you want to open is for. An NGO can be registered in three ways. First as a company under the Companies Act, 2013. Second as a trust under the Indian Trust Act. Third, it can be registered as a society under the Society Registration Act.
Where does one have to apply for registration?
If you want to register your NGO as a society, then for that you will have to go to the office of the Registrar of Societies of your state. Whereas if you want to register it as a trust, then you will have to go to the Sub-Registrar office of your district. If you want to register it as a company, then for that you will have to apply in the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Which you can also do online.
Which documents are required?
Documents will have to be given according to the form in which you are registering your NGO. For registering as a society, the document should include the name of the organization and details of why the NGO is formed, list of 7 or more members, a Memorandum of Association (MoA) and Bylaws, identity certificate of the President and Secretary.
So for registration as a trust, the document of the trust deed, list of all the trustees, Aadhaar and PAN card of the trustee, and registration fee. As a company, the directors' DSC (Digital Signature Certificate) and DIN (Director Identification Number) are required. For an NGO, it is being created. Memorandum and Articles of Association, PAN card, and Aadhaar card.
