Rohit Jha was born and raised in Jamshedpur he completed his early education in India before earning a scholarship to study at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. He graduated in Electrical and Electronic Engineering driven by a fascination for technology and its transformative potential. Rohit Jha’s Banking Career In 2011 Rohit started his career in high-frequency trading at the Royal Bank of Canada in Singapore. During this time he encountered a major challenge of unreliable and expensive internet connectivity. While working in banking he realised internet access was inefficient and costly despite technological advancements. He discovered that global internet infrastructure primarily relies on undersea fiber-optic cables connecting continents. These cables are extremely expensive to deploy and lead to disruptions due to underwater activities. Furthermore internet service providers focus on urban areas for profitability and neglect smaller towns and rural regions. In 2015 Rohit decided to quit his secure banking job and spent a year exploring his options. Later on he co-founded Transcelestial a startup aimed at delivering high-speed internet using laser-powered technology. Transcelestial Revolution Transcelestial has developed a laser-based network that connects mobile towers streetlight poles and other structures to provide fiber-optic-level internet speeds. The technology offers several advantages: Cost-Effective: It eliminates the need for expensive fiber-optic cables. High-Speed Connectivity: It delivers faster internet access with minimal infrastructure. The company plans to launch a constellation of small satellites in low Earth orbit to extend its laser network across cities regions and even continents. This innovative approach has the potential to transform internet access particularly in underserved and remote areas where traditional infrastructure is limited or absent. At just 36 years old Rohit has secured Rs 207 crore ($24 million) in funding for Transcelestial placing him among the ranks of successful global entrepreneurs.  With the help of laser technology Transcelestial aims to bridge the digital divide and empower people in remote regions through better access to education healthcare and economic opportunities.
