Mehmood Ali famously known as the Comedy King became Meena Kumari’s brother-in-law after marrying her sister. Before entering the film industry Mehmood worked as a driver which led him to Meena Kumari’s household. It was there that he met Madhu and their acquaintance soon turned into love. The two got married in 1953 but eventually divorced in 1967. Mehmood appeared in over 300 films and ruled Hindi cinema for five decades. He made his debut in 1943 with Kismat starring Ashok Kumar. Interestingly Kismat was the first Hindi film to cross the Rs 1 crore mark at the box office. Mehmood’s son Lucky Ali is a talented singer who continues to mesmerise audiences with his voice.
