Fenerbahce has formally requested that all remaining matches in the 2024-2025 Turkish Super Lig season be officiated by foreign referees. The club submitted its request to the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) on Tuesday, citing the positive impact of foreign referees on Turkish football.
In an official statementthe club highlighted the performance of the foreign referee team that officiated their recent derby against Galatasaray. According to Fenerbahce, the quality and fairness of officiating in the match were widely acknowledged by the sporting community.
“The fact that some Super Lig clubs have also requested the same referee for their matches serves as proof of the legitimacy of our demands,” the club stated. “This further reinforces our long-standing position on the necessity of foreign referees in Turkish football.”
Fenerbahce’s request marks a significant step in ongoing discussions about referee performance and fairness in the Turkish Super Lig. The club reaffirmed its stance that the remaining matches of the season should be officiated by foreign referees to ensure consistency and transparency.
“We gladly acknowledge and support any opponent’s request to have foreign referees officiate matches against us,” the statement concluded.
