According to data released by the National Statistics Office (NSO) on Wednesday, retail inflation in India has come to the lower level of 7 months in February. If we look at the data, retail inflation has been seen in the country at 3.6 percent. This decline has come down due to a steep fall in the prices of food items, increasing the expectations of a possible deduction in interest rates by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in April. In January, inflation was 4.3 percent.
The main reason for the fall in inflation in the country is the decrease in inflation in the states as well. In about a dozen states of the country, inflation rate has been seen below 4 percent. At the same time, there is also a state in the country, where the inflation rate is above 7 percent. Here inflation is not taking the name of decreasing. According to experts, if the inflation rate in this state was around 4 percent, then there could be further decrease in the overall data of the country. Let us also tell you that in which state the maximum inflation has been seen.
The southern part of the country i.e. the most unlikely state of Kerala has seen the highest inflation rate. Which is more than the tolerance level of RBI. According to government data, inflation rate in Kerala has been seen at 7.31 percent. The special thing is that in the rural areas of Kerala, more inflation has been seen in the urban areas. According to the information, 8.01 percent inflation has been seen in the rural areas of Kerala. While inflation in urban areas is 5.94 percent. Due to which Kerala has seen the most inflation compared to the entire country.
If we talk about the lowest inflation state, then it is also in South India. Where inflation is less than one and a half percent. There are only two states of the country where inflation rate has been seen two percent. According to the data, the inflation rate in the state is 1.31 percent first. Inflation has been seen 0.49 percent in the rural areas of Telangana, which is very low in any rural area in the whole country. On the other hand, inflation rate has been seen in urban areas 2.04 percent. On the other hand, inflation has been seen in Delhi, 1.51 percent, which is the second lowest inflation state in the country. Inflation has been seen 2.59 percent in the rural areas of Delhi, the country's capital. While inflation rates have been seen in urban areas 1.48 percent.
The second most inflation state in February is Chhattisgarh, where inflation rate has been seen 4.9 percent. After that, 4.5 percent has been seen in Karnataka, 4.5 percent in Bihar and 4.3 percent in Jammu and Kashmir. At the same time, the name of Andhra Pradesh is being seen in the lowest inflation states after Telangana and Delhi. Inflation has been seen in the state 2.4 percent. Out of the 22 states analyzed, 13 registered inflation rates less than RBI's 4 per cent target.
Even though the inflation of the country is appearing at the lower level of 7 months, coming below 4 per cent, but the special thing is that in the last 5 i.e. 60 months, this feat has been seen only 3 times. Yes, this thing is not telling themselves but the government figures of the country. According to the data released by the NSO, in the year 2024 before February 2025, the country's retail inflation figures were less than 4 percent in the year 2024. In July 2024, the expensive rate was seen 3.60 percent. Whereas in August 2024, the inflation rate was seen 3.65 percent. Prior to that, in the year 2019, only three such occasions were seen when inflation of the country was above 4 percent. October, November and December 2019 inflation disturbed the common people.
Due to softening of vegetables, eggs and other protein-rich products, retail inflation came down to seven months in February to 3.61 percent. Retail inflation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 4.26 percent in the month of January and 5.09 percent in February 2024. The previous low of retail inflation was seen in July 2024. Since November 2024, the Consumer Price Index has remained in the convenient scope of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Due to this, in the next month's biological meeting of RBI's Monetary Policy Committee, there is a scope for another cut in the policy interest rate.
The National Statistics Office (NSO) released retail inflation figures said that the main inflation of February 2025 has decreased by 65 basis points compared to January. After July 2024, it is the lowest inflation on an annual basis. These figures show that food inflation was 3.75 percent on an annual basis in February. The NSO said that there has been a big fall of 2.22 percent in food inflation in February compared to January. Food inflation of February is the lowest since May, 2023.
