Ratan Tata one of Indias most internationally recognised business leaders passed away at the age of 86 in October 2024. Besides being an industrialist and philanthropist he also had a brief connection with Bollywood. He once produced a film starring Amitabh Bachchan but decided to step away from the film industry after that. Ratan Tata had invested in the 2004 film Aetbaar which unfortunately turned out to be a huge flop at the box office. Made on a budget of Rs 95 million the film earned only Rs 80 million that lead to financial loss. After this experience he chose not to invest in any more films.
Directed by Vikram Bhatt Aetbaar movie also featured John Abraham Bipasha Basu and Supriya Pilgaonkar. The movie was inspired by the 1996 American film Fear.
Despite Aetbaar being a flop stories from the film’s set continue to surface online. One such incident was recently shared by lead actor John Abraham who revealed that he was once denied entry to the film’s muhurat shot.
In an interview with Filmfare he recalled When I arrived for my first muhurat shot I came on a motorcycle. The film was Aetbaar and Hrithik Roshan and Amitabh Bachchan were there to clap the board for me. Hrithik and I were classmates-hes a sweetheart. But when I reached the venue the security stopped me at the gate and asked ‘Who are you?’ I told them ‘This is my film’s muhurat’ but they didn’t recognize me and refused to let me in. Finally after some convincing they opened the gates and I saw Amitabh Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan waving at me calling me in. That was my first time-it happened at Sujeet Kumar’s house.”
