Get rid of mould in your tile grout with this easy .

If you have tiles in your bathroom, you'll know how annoying it can be to find growing in the grout that separates each tile. Mould loves to grow in moist conditions, and every time you have a shower and get your bathroom steamy, you're inviting that mould to flourish.

You should clean the mould as soon as you see it, as leaving it to fester will only make it worse and will leave you with an even tougher job as it will spread across your bathroom - or any other room of the house that gets damp.

tile grout can be an absolute nightmare, as it normally involves a lot of scrubbing with an old toothbrush that can get in between the tiles to really shift the grime.

But there could be something that eliminates all the stress of cleaning your grout - according to one cleaning fan .

We all know that using an old toothbrush is the best way to scrub at tile grout, but now one cleaning fan has come up with a "genius" time-saving suggestion - using an old electric toothbrush instead.

Sharing their hack on Reddit, the person showed a video of them using the electric toothbrush to clean in between the wooden tiles on their floor. They said it was "much faster" than a regular toothbrush, and "less exhausting", as the tool did all the work for them.

They explained: "I can't believe I almost threw out my old and nasty electric toothbrush. It's just water, bleach, and a very old and kinda mouldy Oral-B toothbrush. It took a while to clean between every tile, but it was much faster than going with a regular brush (and less exhausting)."

The choice of cleaning solution you use to clean your grout can still vary depending on your preferred method, but using an electric toothbrush to apply the mixture and scrub at your tiles could make the job take less time.

Commenters on the post were blown away by the hack. Many said they couldn't believe they'd never thought of it themselves, while others stressed the importance of keeping the old toothbrush away from the one you actually use.

One person said: "Wow, this is so smart. I never use my electric toothbrush because it gives me headaches, and this just gave me a reason to dust the five years of dust off of it."

Another added: "That's so satisfying. Makes me wish I had grout to clean!"

How to clean mould from tile grout

Your first step should be to protect yourself and the area by wearing gloves, goggles, and a mask to protect yourself from mould and cleaning products. You should also ventilate the area by opening windows or turning on a fan.

Then, choose one of the following cleaning solutions:

  • Vinegar solution made with equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle
  • Bleach solution made with one part bleach diluted in 10 parts water (for tough stains)
  • Hydrogen peroxide mix made using one part hydrogen peroxide and two parts baking soda to form a paste
  • Apply your chosen cleaning solution to the affected area and let it sit for 5-10 minutes to allow it to break down the mould and mildew. Then, using an electric toothbrush or another stiff-bristled brush, scrub the grout lines.

Use a damp sponge or cloth to wipe the grout and rinse thoroughly with plenty of clean water. Repeat the process if necessary until all the mould and mildew have been removed.
