About a month ago, Udit Narayan made headlines after a video of him kissing a female fan on the lips during his performance went viral. When we spoke to the singer, he said the controversy has not affected him at all and even now, when people joke about it, he takes it in his stride.
He said, “My career spans more than four decades and that’s what matters. I belong to a family that was into farming and I have literally started from scratch. I believed in my dreams and made my way into Bollywood on my own. I have won two National Awards and have sung so many songs. I have sung around 200-300 songs with Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar. After so much hard work, I am not affected if people bring back something from the past and make fun of it. It does not bother me because in the video, fans are just showering love and appreciation for my singing.”
Narayan also shared how people tend to blow things out of proportion on social media. He said, “After the video surfaced, people joked about it online and I was amused and laughed about it. My wife Deepa accompanies me to most of my concerts and is happy to see the love I get from people. So, such incidents don’t affect my family either.”
The singer was also seen recently on Indian Idol as a guest judge. The show is anchored by his son and musician Aditya Narayan . It was a treat for his fans and the contestants when he sang few lines from his popular songs from films like Gadar and Veer Zara.
